New Drawing Series Underway
20th January 2010
The latest addition to the Drawing Gallery is Snow White and the Poison Dwarf. It's the first in a series that will continue throughout the year, taking imagery from the childhood films that have given us unrealistic expectations of life, and portraying something darker and more realistic.
New Collage: Fingernail Sky
6th December 2009
My latest collage is a piece that I've been working on for most of the year, but only just got round to finishing, due to getting repeatedly sidetracked by the need to draw. It's the first addition to the collage gallery in nearly three years. I'm not sure I'm as pleased with it as I was with the older pieces such as Claireytale. My lack of ability to concentrate on this piece for any stretch of time is perhaps apparent, but I believe it's still an interesting composition.
New Drawing: She Came Apart
26th November 2009
I keep meaning to do more artwork on canvas but seem to be unable to stop drawing. At this rate, I may end up specialising in illustration... who knows? I find it difficult to plan my art in advance, and tend to just follow my instincts. My latest drawing is another cathartic piece, but slightly less dark this time. It has similar subject matter and influences to my last drawing, but I felt the need to be more colourful.

New Drawing: Four Eyed FlutterBy
26th October 2009
My drawings have been far too "nice" lately. After a recent upsetting experience, I decided it was time for something far more cathartic. The latest addition to the Drawing Gallery is a metaphorical piece about self-destructive behaviour. Using art as a form of therapy, I have found release from pain and anger through the creation of artwork that expresses these feelings, rather than through indulging in literal self-injury.
Spirit Series Complete
10th October 2009
The Spirit series, which began last year and from which I got sidetracked by other projects, is now complete, with new additions to the drawing gallery, Earth Spirit and Air Spirit (right). My depression got pretty bad for a while, and I felt creatively blocked, but I've been uplifted and inspired by going for walks around places of natural beauty.
New Photography and Drawing
2nd September 2009
I've recently returned from holiday in France, where I took lots of holiday photos, plus four new art shots for the photography gallery.

I have also finished another coloured drawing, Triskele Moonlight, a surreal piece of Celtic art. I was aiming for a look that's almost monochrome, with only red biro used for the edging, and purples, reds and browns used for the pencil shading, to create a twilight dream world with a fairytale quality. I'm aiming to move away from the blatant madness of my early work, while still creating a sense of altered reality.

New Drawing: Triskele Synapses
10th July 2009
It's been too nice outside to be painting indoors, so I've done another sketchbook piece, again using coloured ballpoint pens and coloured pencils. The triskele is a Celtic symbol with various religious and spiritual connotations. For me, it represents unity between three alternate personalities. As someone who used to have Dissociative Identity Disorder, this is an important concept for me.
New Drawing: Mushroom Mandala
16th June 2009

I got sidetracked from my latest work on canvas by a sudden need to do another drawing. Mushroom Mandala was inspired by the book Creating Mandalas by Susanne F. Fincher, which I found really interesting and insightful. I also enjoyed learning how to do Celtic knotwork for the borders. This may soon by yet another new influence on my work.

New Painting: Fairy Falls
6th April 2009
My latest work is a response to a commission for a waterfall painting. The fairies were taken from sketchbooks of previous work and added to this background of oils and acrylics on canvas, with some minor collage elements for added texture. This will be the last commission I am able to to do for a while. I spent several months on this piece and am really pleased with the standard I've achieved and the direction my work is heading in.
Two Paintings Published
24th August 2008
Two of my paintings, Heart Chakra and Throat Chakra have been published in this year's Autumn edition of Pentacle magazine. They're appearing alongside the work of some fantastic artists, and I'm really flattered that my work was chosen. It's really encouraging to know my paintings will be seen by a whole new audience.
New Drawing: Fire Spirit
28th June 2008
It has been a busy year so far, with starting my new day job and moving house, so there have not been any updates for a while. I've recently started finding time to draw regularly again. I enjoyed working on the Water Spirit image so much that I decided to make it the start of a series. The latest addition to the drawing gallery is Fire Spirit, which again was produced using coloured pencils and coloured ballpoint pens.

New Drawing: Water Spirit
13th February 2008
Although it has been interesting working purely with biro to produce all of my drawings so far, the process of working with such a time consuming medium was beginning to hold me back, and I felt it was time to move on. My latest drawing was shaded in coloured pencil, with biro used only at the edge of each shape for definition. The image is a response to a client's request for a "powerful, beautiful, feminine image", and is called "Water Spirit".
Chakra Series Published
28th January 2008
Last year's Chakra series of paintings have now been published as CD cover art for "A Journey Through The Chakras", available from Head2Toe Massage.
I have returned from my travels early for personal reasons. Whilst I was away, I completed my first full colour ballpoint pen drawing, The Prisoner, depicting a butterfly symbolically trapped underground. Although the shading technique involved with biro work can be very time consuming, the patience it demands makes it incredibly therapeutic.
Gone Travelling
1st September 2007
This will be my last website update until next summer, as I am soon to be setting off backpacking around Australia. I have now added the chakra series to my online store, which now sells mugs, coasters, postcards, and canvas prints as well as high quality photo prints of various sizes, and will remain up and running while I'm away. I will also be updating my deviant art page with my latest artwork, and can still be contacted through the contact form.
Chakra Series Complete
13th August 2007
My latest painting, Crown Chakra is the final image in the Chakra series. The crown chakra is represented by a meditating figure as a symbol of spiritual aspiration, and also incorporates all the lower chakra points to effectively finalise the series. Throat Chakra and Third Eye Chakra have also been added to the painting gallery.
The fourth addition to the painting gallery today is Mute Fairy, my latest fantasy image. The fairy herself was painted some time ago, and can be seen with a photoshop background in the digital gallery. The traditional watercolour background was only recently completed. I've made the traditional image starker and less vibrant, to fit with the sombre mood created by the fairy's facial expression.
Chakra Series Continues
6th July 2007
The Chakra series continues, with three more editions to the Painting Gallery.
New Painting Series Underway
13th June 2007
My latest work is the painting, Base Chakra, which will be the first in a series of seven. The base chakra represents survival, security, confidence and strength. This series is inspired by the holistic therapy of Mary Dalgleish.
